Junior Guard season is just a few months away and now is a great time to help your kids get in shape and ready for try-outs. Enrollment is now open for the Lucky Duck Swim Team Junior Lifeguard Conditioning Program. Space is limited and are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The program is designed to refine basic freestyle skills, condition, and improve swimming times. It aims to help Junior Guard hopefuls get ready to take the JG entry test. This program is designed to instruct youth ages 9 through 12.
New Junior Lifeguards must attend a LACoFD Junior Lifeguard Tryout and pass a 100-yard swim test under*:
- 1:50 for ages 9-11 as of 7/1/22 – “C” Age Group
- 1:40 for ages 12-13 as of 7/1/22 – “B” Age Group
All classes are taught by Lucky Duck Swim Team Coaches and Instructors. There are five sessions of the conditioning program:
Prerequisite: All swimmers must be able to tread the water without assistance and swim 50 yards of freestyle without stopping.

All participants must be at least 9 years old and are expected to have mastered basic freestyle swimming skills. For more information about the conditioning program, contact coach Alicia at team@luckyduckswimschool.com.
*Swim times are determined by the age group a child will be participating in during the program, NOT the current age of the applicant. For example, if an applicant is 11 years old on the date of the tryout, but will turn 12 on or before July 1st, they are considered a “B”, not a “C”, and must pass the required “B” swim time.
